The house is located in the Tuscan countryside near San Giovanni Valdarno, between Florence and Arezzo and not far from Chianti. Originally, the building served as a farm storage shed on a larger estate and dates back to the early Renaissance. Its current owners, who are architects themselves, have restored the historic structure, deliberately choosing not to try to bring everything into a single, uniform style.
Spanning approximately 160 m², the space features three double bedrooms and three bathrooms, accommodating a total of six guests. Natural stone walls and exposed wooden beams evoke the house’s history; these are complemented by handcrafted terrazzo floors and furnishings that blend styles from different decades. Furniture from the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s sits alongside contemporary designs and one-of-a-kind pieces that the owners have found while traveling and at local antique markets.
On the ground floor, the living room, dining area, and kitchen form a spacious open-concept area with high ceilings. The fireplace is centrally located in the living room and makes the house a pleasant place to be even during the cooler months. On the same level, there is a double bedroom with its own shower room, as well as the utility room.
There are two additional double bedrooms on the upper floor, each with its own bathroom. One of them can also be set up with two single beds if needed. One of the bathrooms has a shower, while the other also has a bathtub. All three bedrooms are air-conditioned.
Outside, the house is surrounded by a large garden with old oak trees, olive trees, and various seating areas. The most striking feature of the outdoor area is the unusually long saltwater pool: 20 meters long, three meters wide, and 1.50 meters deep. Its narrow shape complements the architecture while still offering enough length for swimming. A pergola provides shade, and next to it there is a lounge area and spots for outdoor dining.
The location is also convenient for trips where both the countryside and cities are equally important. Montevarchi, with its shops, supermarket, and train station, is six kilometers away. According to the host, there are good train connections from there to Florence and Arezzo. By car, Arezzo is 41 kilometers away, Florence is 52 kilometers away, and Siena is 59 kilometers away. Greve in Chianti is 37 kilometers away.
