This cabin in Vethem near Walsrode measures just 16 m²—and that’s precisely part of its charm. Instead of trying to fit as much as possible into a small space, the designers made deliberate choices: high-quality materials, clean lines, and a few well-designed areas. Oak and stainless steel define the kitchen, large windows bring plenty of light into the home, and carefully selected lighting complements the minimalist design.
The cabin was built on the farm where the two hosts grew up. In a space that had once been used to house animals and later to store firewood, they began their joint project in late 2025. Their goal was to ensure that a small living space did not compromise on quality of life.
This is especially evident when you sleep. The king-size bed is positioned right next to the large panoramic window, so that in the morning your gaze immediately falls upon the greenery. The open-concept interior combines the sleeping, cooking, and living areas, yet remains pleasantly tranquil thanks to its minimalist design.
The fully equipped kitchen features a stove, oven, refrigerator, and dishwasher. It also includes a coffee maker and all the necessary cooking utensils—enough to spend several days here independently. The bathroom features a 120-centimeter-wide shower; a hair dryer and toiletries are also provided.
For cooler days, the cabin is equipped with underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove. This means the cabin isn’t just for summer. If you want to get some work done, you’ll find high-speed Wi-Fi and a quiet spot by the window; according to the host, the connection is also suitable for video calls and working from home.
Outside, the sun terrace is entirely for the guests’ use. It provides a lovely contrast to the compact living space and offers a place to enjoy morning coffee, practice yoga, or spend quiet hours outdoors. The cabin itself, along with the terrace and the garden in front of it, form a separate, enclosed area in the courtyard.
Just a few steps away, there is also a small lake with a beach, nestled in a meadow. Guests are welcome to use it during their stay. Important to know: The lake belongs to the farm and is not reserved exclusively for the cabin—occasionally, other people from the farm may also be there.
As a result, this accommodation is ideal for two people who know they need very little space but don’t want to compromise on design or amenities. With plenty of nature outside the windows, a fireplace for quiet evenings, and the lake right next door, this small house feels much larger than its 16 m².
Pets are not allowed. Free parking is available right next to the property.
