At the edge of the small Ligurian mountain village of Erli, Casa Val Neva is located directly along the historic routes of the Via del Sale, which have connected Liguria with Piedmont for centuries. Nestled in the foothills of the Ligurian Alps, just 7.5 kilometers from the Piedmontese border and about 18 kilometers from the coast, Casa Val Neva uniquely brings together “Mare e Monti”—mountains and sea, the Ligurian countryside, and Piedmontese culinary culture.
The original stone house, which is approximately 240 m² in size, is rented out as a whole and, with five bedrooms and two bathrooms, can accommodate up to ten people. The interior of the casa is spacious and intentionally designed to be cozy. There is a living area with a workspace, a separate dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen where even larger groups can cook comfortably. High-quality pots, sharp knives, a blender, spices, and the house’s own olive oil, Olio Val Neva, are all provided, as are various options for your morning coffee—a Moccamaster, a French press, and a Bialetti—as well as a milk frother. Two dishwashers, a washing machine, and Wi-Fi make your stay hassle-free, even for larger groups.
The true heart of the house, however, lies outside: The roughly 100 m² rooftop terrace offers plenty of space, tranquility, and a sweeping view of the Ligurian countryside. With a pizza oven and outdoor kitchen, it quickly becomes the focal point of evenings spent together—whether for long dinners, homemade pizza, or simply a glass of wine under the open sky.
Casa Val Neva is nestled in the mountains, and the Neva River flows through the valley right nearby. The nearest swimming spot on the Neva is about a ten-minute walk away. If you continue following the river, after 25 to 30 minutes you’ll find more natural swimming pools, waterfalls, and small, enchanted lagoons. Hiking trails through the surrounding mountain landscape also begin right in front of the house.
And then there’s the sea: The coast of the Ligurian Riviera is about 18 kilometers away and can be reached by car in about 20 to 30 minutes. So a day on vacation can look very different—a morning swim in the river, followed by a hike through the mountains, and then down to the sea in the afternoon. Or you can simply stay on the rooftop terrace and take in the scenery.
Its location between Liguria and Piedmont makes Casa Val Neva even more special. In addition to the coastal towns and Ligurian cuisine, you can also explore the Piedmontese side of the region—with its small towns, wines, and distinctive culinary culture. Those who want to explore the surrounding area further can visit the historic Castelvecchio or the restored village of Castelbianco, take a boat tour to Isola Gallinara, or head to Imperia for whale watching. Hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing in Val Pennavaire are also among the activities available in the area. If you’re in the mood for a trip to the coast of France, the Côte d’Azur—including Nice, Menton, and Antibes—is also easily accessible.
In the village itself, everything you need is just a few minutes’ walk away. A small grocery store with an attached restaurant, Ristorante Da Lisetta, is only about a five-minute walk away—perfect for your morning coffee, a panino, or a classic Ligurian dinner.
The house is also well-equipped for families. A crib with a safety rail, two Tripp Trapp high chairs with baby sets, a changing pad, a step stool, and sand toys are available. For days at the beach, there are beach towels, umbrellas, and beach games. Yoga mats and meditation cushions round out the amenities.
Casa Val Neva is therefore a place for people who want to experience Italy away from the typical tourist spots: plenty of nature, mountains, and village life, with the river right nearby and the sea just a short drive away. At the same time, the house is situated at a unique geographical transition point between Liguria and Piedmont—and it is precisely this connection that defines its character.
This isn’t a house where you have to check off as many sights as possible. It’s a house for spending time together, for long evenings on the rooftop terrace, for walks to the river, and for spontaneous trips to the ocean. A place where you can spend your day however feels right at the moment.
