About this home

Beneath the canopy of a large, old oak tree stands a small stone cottage whose large windows open wide onto the landscape. Plenty of natural light floods into the rooms, bringing the interior and exterior closer together—it is precisely this connection that defines the house.

Inside, the original materials were not hidden behind a completely new design. Natural stone and wood remain visible and are complemented by Portuguese tiles. The result is a home that preserves its historic character without sacrificing modern comforts.

The open living area forms the heart of the home. Here, the kitchen, dining area, and lounge flow seamlessly into one another, creating a shared space for cooking, dining, and spending time together. The kitchen is fully equipped and spacious enough not only to prepare breakfast but also to spend long evenings together at the stove.

Right next to it is the living area with a wood-burning stove. Especially on cooler days, the fire adds a whole new dimension to the atmosphere of this little house. Heating and air conditioning also ensure that the rooms can be kept at a comfortable temperature throughout the different seasons.

A separate bedroom with a double bed is available for two guests. The bathroom is directly adjacent to it. A separate restroom completes the layout.

A small alcove provides two additional sleeping spots on single daybeds. This means the cottage can accommodate up to four people in total. At the same time, this area serves as a cozy retreat during the day—for reading, relaxing, or simply enjoying a few quiet hours away from the open living space.

This layout is especially practical when the house is fully occupied: The separate bedroom offers privacy, while the two additional sleeping areas remain integrated into the home’s living space.

Outside, the cottage’s unpretentious character continues. The mature trees and surrounding landscape provide a picturesque setting for the cottage, and a grill is available for shared outdoor meals.

Wi-Fi, a private parking space, and a fully equipped kitchen round out the amenities.

The cottage is part of a larger private estate with several independent guesthouses. Important to know: The hosts’ main house is also located on the property and remains private. With its own living area, bedroom, and bathroom, the cottage can still be booked as a standalone accommodation for two to four guests.

If you’d like to travel with a larger group, you can alternatively book the designated group package, which includes several guesthouses and accommodates up to twelve people in total.

My path has taken me through different worlds, which now come together naturally in this project. I previously worked as a massage therapist and also spent time in events and hospitality, where I developed a love of welcoming guests, caring for them, and offering the small touches that make a stay special. With a deep connection to nature and animals, I envisioned La Presqu’île de la Rose as a place that celebrates the art of living and the art of feeling at home.
