In the heart of Cima’s historic village center stands an old village house that has been carefully restored and redesigned over the course of several years. The approximately 170 m² of living space is spread across several levels and typically accommodates six guests; a sleeper sofa provides two additional sleeping spots.
The restoration was not intended to hide the building’s history behind a completely new facade. The original architecture remained an important part of the house. Natural stone and wood are paired with deliberately minimalist materials, clean lines, and individually selected furniture. Many details were created in collaboration with local artisans.
The layout of the house also contributes to its character. Instead of a traditional sequence of separate rooms, different living and sleeping areas are interconnected across multiple levels. As a result, the old village house remains recognizable as such, but now serves as a spacious vacation home for trips with family or friends.
A fully equipped kitchen, modern bathrooms, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi bring contemporary comforts to the historic rooms. At the same time, the decor remains intentionally personal. The house was not originally set up for vacation rentals, but as the hosts’ own home for spending time with family and friends. It was only later that the idea arose to share it with guests as well.
A significant part of the house is outdoors. The spacious terrace is complemented by a pergola and extends the living space during the warmer months. There is also a private outdoor kitchen—ideal for days when you want to spend as little time indoors as possible, from breakfast through dinner. An outdoor shower is also part of the outdoor area.
And then there’s the lake. It’s only about a two-minute walk from the house to Lake Lugano, where you can go swimming. In the morning, all you need is a towel slung over your shoulder before taking your first dip in the water. It’s precisely this direct connection between the village and the lake that’s one of the location’s greatest strengths.
At the same time, you won’t be staying in an isolated vacation home community, but right in the heart of Cima’s historic village center. Old houses and narrow alleys characterize the immediate surroundings. This makes the house the perfect starting point for a vacation where Italian village life and days by the water go hand in hand.
The location is also interesting from a geographical standpoint. Cima is situated on Lake Lugano, between Lake Como and Lugano. This allows guests to discover different aspects of the region during their stay before returning to the village, the terrace, and the lake. The host describes the location as a village house between Lake Como and Lugano.
